If your eyes feel gritty, tired, burning or watery — especially after screens — you may have dry eye disease, one of the most common (and most treatable) eye problems. At Dayal Eye Centre, we find out why your eyes are dry and treat the cause, from simple drops and lid care to advanced therapies for meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and punctal plugs.
Dry eye disease happens when your eyes don’t make enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly — often because the oil glands in the eyelids (meibomian glands) aren’t working well. The result is a gritty, burning, tired feeling, and paradoxically, watery eyes as they over-produce reflex tears.
How common is it? Indian studies report dry eye in a wide range — a north Indian hospital study found around 32% of patients affected — and a large LVPEI analysis projects dry eye disease will affect around 275 million people in India. Long screen hours, air-conditioning and contact-lens wear all make it worse.
If any of these sound familiar, a dry eye assessment will tell you exactly what is causing them.
We treat the cause, not just the symptom — stepping up only as needed.
Dry eye is usually managed rather than cured, and the right plan depends on your type of dry eye. Individual results vary; consult with our doctors.
Dry eye care is mostly consultation and medical management; procedures (e.g. punctal plugs) are extra. Indicative, subject to consultation.
Pricing disclaimer: indicative starting-from ranges (from the centre’s Verified Clinical Data 2024–2025), subject to consultation and examination; insurance/scheme coverage varies by policy.
