Ptosis, Entropion & Ectropion Treatment in Gurgaon

When an eyelid droops (ptosis), turns inward (entropion) or sags outward (ectropion), it can block vision, irritate the eye and cause watering — and eyelid-position surgery corrects it. Our oculoplastic surgeon repairs these common eyelid malpositions to protect the eye’s surface, restore comfort and give a natural eyelid position and appearance.

The Conditions

What Are Ptosis, Entropion and Ectropion?

Three of the most common eyelid malpositions we treat. Each affects the eye differently, and each is corrected surgically once the cause is confirmed.

Ptosis

A droopy upper eyelid
Why it matters

Can block vision and cause a tired look; children need early assessment to protect sight.

Entropion

The eyelid turns inward
Why it matters

Lashes rub the eye, causing pain, redness and surface damage.

Ectropion

The eyelid sags outward
Why it matters

The eye dries and waters, with irritation and exposure.

Treatment

How Are They Treated?

All three are corrected with day-care eyelid surgery under local anaesthesia, tailored to the cause. Ptosis is repaired by tightening or reattaching the lifting muscle; entropion and ectropion are corrected by tightening and repositioning the eyelid so it sits correctly against the eye.

Adults usually recover within one to two weeks. In children, ptosis needs timely assessment because a lid covering the pupil can affect visual development.

Day-care surgery under local anaesthesia

All three are corrected as a same-day procedure, tailored to the cause — no general anaesthesia needed in most cases.

Ptosis repair

The lifting muscle is tightened or reattached so the upper lid sits at its natural height and clears your field of view.

Entropion & ectropion correction

The eyelid is tightened and repositioned so it sits correctly against the eye, ending the rubbing, dryness and watering.

Recovery

Adults usually recover within one to two weeks. In children, ptosis needs timely assessment because a lid covering the pupil can affect visual development.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions patients and parents ask us most. For anything specific to your eyes, a consultation gives the clearest answer.

Not always — if the lid droops far enough it blocks vision, and in children it can interfere with visual development, so ptosis is often a functional problem. Correcting it restores the field of view as well as appearance.

Entropion is when the eyelid turns inward so the lashes rub the eye, causing pain and surface damage; ectropion is when it sags outward, causing dryness, watering and irritation. Both are corrected with eyelid-tightening surgery.

It’s done under local anaesthesia, so you shouldn’t feel pain during it. Afterwards there’s mild discomfort, bruising and swelling for a few days, which settles with simple care.

Because ptosis (affecting vision), entropion and ectropion are functional problems that protect the eye, they are usually covered, subject to your policy. We assess and help with pre-authorisation.

A child’s droopy eyelid should be assessed promptly, because a lid covering the pupil can affect visual development (amblyopia). Timely treatment protects the child’s sight.

Protect Your Eye — and Restore Comfort

One consultation confirms the cause of your eyelid problem and the surgery that corrects it. Our medical counsellors will contact you — no sales, expert consultation.
