Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a common type of refractive error of the eye. People with myopia can see objects that are close to them clearly, but objects that far away appear blurry. Myopia occurs when the eye is longer than normal or when the cornea (the clear front part of the eye) is too curved, causing light to be focused in front of the retina instead of directly on it. This can result in blurry vision for distant objects.
