Cataract surgery is needed only once in one eye. Its a very successful surgery and restores vision completely.
A normal diet which is nutritious and easily digestible can be started after cataract surgery on the same day . It's important to keep the patient well hydrated and to avoid constipation. This will prevent patients from straining .
The cloudy lens of cataract is removed by phacoemulsification followed by implanting an artificial clear lens at its place. This lens is customised as per the patient's eye measurements taken before surgery.
There is a very small incision of 1.2mm to put the lens inside. No suture is required. Healing is complete by 4 weeks.

Till your routine work is not disturbed due to cataract , you can postpone getting surgery. But don't postpone too much because too much hardening of the lens can be a complicated surgery.

Once cataract is treated, the cloudy lens is replaced with artificial lens which serves the purpose for lifelong.

Blurred vision after cataract can be temporary while healing is taking place which gradually clears out. In some cases posterior capsule of the lens may become opacified which causes blurring of vision more than 6 months or even couple of years after cataract surgery. This can be treated in OPD itself by laser.

Its recommended not to splash water on face for1 week. During this time you can clean with wipes or wet cloth . After 1 week , face can be washed taking care to keep eyes closed while washing
A hypermature cataract is the final, most advanced stage of cataract development. It occurs when the lens of the eye becomes very hard and dense due to prolonged clouding.
